Bruges

Went over to Bruges over the weekend with a couple of the people from Evelyn Gardens. Our day trip there was quite boring though, cos we spent most of the time on the bus. The scenery in Bruges was very pretty though thats all there was there apart from the chocolates.

On the pride of canterbury, on our way to Belgium through France.

On the ferry as well.

In Bruges you seem to find that you have gone back into time.

Lunch on the go.

Bruges Busker. Beats everybody you see along Orchard Road flat!

In the centre of Bruges.

Along the narrow streets of Bruges

TinTin Shop! Its a pity everything there was so expensive.

Chocolates! =) Enough said. These are really good. Pop by my room if you want some.

School Starts!

Ive been very busy these few days. My hours are from 9 - 5.30 for these 2 weeks so its kinda exhausting. To think I thought studying overseas would be slack.

ChemEng is supposed to be quite easy compared to stuff like EEE and AeroEng. Lets hope that is true then. Im still looking around trying to join more CCAs here. The main limiting factor I guess would be time as there's so much to do. You wont believe how much time I spend on groceries and cooking.

Magician at Hemley's Toy store along Regent Street. Its the best toy store here. You really should pop by if you ever are in London.

Bears, bears and more bears =)

More toys =)

Fun stuff in school. Our group won 2nd prize!

My first meal I cooked in hall

Lunch!

Hmm... I found this near the tennis courts at Holland Park.

Oh well... more photos soon.

Exploring London

London is just huge. We tried to go touring during our free day from school but ended up spending most of it shopping along Oxford Street. After many purchases we finally took a stroll through Regent Street, passing Hemley's Toy Store and ending up at Piccadilly Circus with the famous 1893 aluminium statue of Eros in the middle of the whole place.

London can be gloomy and cold. Oh well... as long as it doesnt snow.

OH... and I got cheated today by Boots. Boots is the equivalent to our Guardian in Spore. I was there buying some vitamins and there was a deal where you buy 3 things and get the cheapest one among them free. I was rushing and didnt check the reciept before leaving. I did wonder how come it was so expensive as I paid up but thought little of it... I was almost all the way back to my hall before I suddenly thought of checking my receipt. It turns out I was charged the full price. I then proceeded to walk all the way back to find the cashier. He was quite apologetic about it though and blamed the cash machine. He immediately refunded me the difference without any hesitation.

Oh well... I guess I should be more careful next time.

And so the journey began

Guys who came to the airport, Mok, YiJian, ZQ, Wilson, Marcus, Marcus AO, Elaine, Min, JQ, Clarisse, Cheryl, Daniel Liang, Ivan, JGan, Patrick, Joel, Raffli, and Fiona thanks so much for going all the way down that night. I was really touched so many of you went down that night. Thank you Rachel, Mark and Ivan for calling even though you couldnt make it down. Thanks OG7, Fiona and Yijian for your cards, and Marcus for your chocolate. As I said it wasnt an easy decision, sometimes i still wonder why I even decided to leave. I just hope that it wont be a mistake.

Everything's been fine so far, its orientation week and there are lots of things to be done. Ive only recently gotten my internet connection up. Im still hoping that my email starts working again. Banking and getting a phone line is giving most of us a headache. Staying in hall here is very interesting too, lots of activities and interesting people around. There are quite a number of international students from India, China as well as the EU countries too. I guess its kinda fun mixing around and trying to find out more about each other. More updates when I find the time. Sorry I dont think I have all the photos of the people that came that night.

Freshers Week

Its been so long since I last did a proper post. Anyway I just came back from dinner with a couple of the people from my kitchen group at some Chinese buffet place followed by an outing to an English Sports Pub.

Dinner was not too bad and the pub was just crazy. Its actually a cross between a normal pub and a club that we're all familar with. The music tonight was quite good actually, and the crowd was fantastic on a Monday night here in London. The people there tonight were just happy to be there and chill out and really made the place quite lively.

To end things off we left just after the bouncer threw out a drunkard guy who was starting to cause trouble. We had to wait for quite a while as the guy tried to force his way into the place. No photos tonight though cos the photos are with the hall seniors who brought us along.
